What is the difference between an indoor and outdoor unit?

An outdoor unit is accessed directly from the driveway allowing you to unload items directly from your vehicle.

What is a drive-up unit?

A drive-up unit is an outside unit, located on the first floor of a facility which gives you the ability to unload your belongings directly from a vehicle or truck.

What sizes are available and how do I pick my size?

Generally, sizes range from 5 x 5 (25 square feet) to 10 x 30 (300 square feet). Larger sizes are available at some facilities. Determining the right size is easy with the help of our Unit Size Selector and the help of our facility managers who are trained to assist you in this process. To determine the sizes available at a location near you, contact the facility’s manager.

What is climate control?

Climate controlled units maintain a temperature of 55 to 85 degrees. This feature helps protect your stored belongings from extreme temperature variations.

What is a roll-up door?

Roll-up doors are the most common style of access door in the self-storage industry. Customers slide a latch and lift the door upward – similar to the action of a standard residential garage door. Roll-up doors provide maximize usage of your space.

Is there RV/boat/car/motorcycle parking available?

Yes we do offer it at our Rowlett Main St., at Plano, 1221 Commerce, and limited parking storage is available at our Rowlett Melcer facility. See each location’s page for details.

RENTING A UNIT

How far in advance can I reserve a storage unit?

You may reserve a unit in advance once all the proper paper work has been completed and a guarantee of payment has been made.

What does “on-site” manager mean?

An on-site manager or a resident manager is a manager that lives in an apartment located on the property.

Do you provide me with a lock when I rent a unit?

No, you will need to provide your own lock. Round disc locks are available for purchase from the facility’s manager.

What’s the difference between office hours and gate hours?

During office hours the manager is available to help you with your storage related needs. Office hours are from 9 a.m. – 5:30/6 p.m. Gate hours refer to the times that your access code will operate the gate access key pad. These hours are much earlier in the morning and much later into the evening. Check with each facility’s manager for the exact times.

What are the payment terms?

Leases are month to month and your rent is due on or before the due date. Payment can be made by check or debit/credit card.

Do you accept credit cards?

We accept several major credit cards, including MasterCard®, Visa®, Discover®, or American Express®.

SECURITY

What kind of security do you have?

Lone Star Self Storage seeks to maintain state-of-the-art security, including features such as an electronic gate with coded access, monitored video surveillance, and fenced well-lit facilities. Personal locks are available for purchase.

Do you have video cameras?

All Lone Star facilities have surveillance cameras in operation.

Can anybody drive onto this property?

All Lone Star facilities have electronic gate systems which can only be opened by a security code which has been assigned to each individual tenant. The security code allows the manager to monitor who is entering and exiting the facility.

Do you have a Free use of a Trailer?

All Lone Star facilities offer the free use of a trailer to current tenants. Contact the facility’s manager to make your reservation.

Can I buy boxes and other packing products from Lone Star Self Storage?

Yes. All of our facilities offer a wide variety of boxes and packing supplies.

Do you have moving carts available?

All of the Lone Star facilities have dollys for the free use by current tenants while they are on Lone Star property. Ask the facility’s manager about borrowing the dolly.
